The book Downs and Ups is the fruit of a collaboration between the Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research LIVES and the Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography. Three young Swiss photographers were mandated to realise a personal work on the NCCR LIVES’ topics of vulnerability and resilience. Each photo collection is accompanied by a text inspired by the life course studies, an interview and a critical essay.
